Tips for Looking Younger

The skin starts to age during your 20s, with the skin losing its elasticity. Combine this with inadequate sun protection, faulty diet, and improper skin care regimen, and you will have skin that looks blotchy with sun spots and enlarged pores. All these problems can be avoided if you just make changes in your lifestyle and beauty care regimen. Nevertheless, there is makeup that comes to your rescue and can help you look youthful and fresh.

Foundation and Concealer
One of the best makeup tips to fake younger looking skin is to use foundation with a light hand. A face caked up with a layer of foundation will only make you look older. So, apply foundation or concealer only on those parts of the skin where needed, like under the eyes, on dark circles, and dark spots. A liquid foundation with luminescent or pearlescent particles is best for camouflaging fine lines and wrinkles. It gives the skin an even glow and because of its light weight formulation it does not look heavy or cakey. If your skin is relatively free of blemishes and dark spots, you can use a tinted moisturizer instead of a heavy foundation. Under no circumstances should you use powder-based foundation, as it settles on the fine lines and wrinkles of the skin, making you look older.

The best way to apply liquid foundation is to use a damp sponge to apply it on the skin. If you are over 40, then it would be a good idea to use a primer before you apply the foundation. A primer helps smoothen fine lines and wrinkles, giving you a smooth and flawless look.

Eye Shadows and Eyeliner
Eye makeup should be soft and the eyes should be done in light or neutral matte shades. You should avoid frosted eye shadows as they accentuate fine lines and crows foot. As we age, the eyelids sag and droop. To camouflage this, you need to make sure that you choose lighter colored eyes shadows as they help to make eyes appear bigger than they are. Shades like champagne, plum, and taupe work best. Also, apply a light and glimmery eye shadow at the inner corner of the eye and at the brow bone to open up the eyes.

Use an eyelash curler before you apply mascara as it will help open up your eyes. Choose a good lengthening and volumizing mascara. Avoid applying eyeliner to the entire upper and lower lid of the eyes. This makes the eyes appear enclosed which makes them look smaller. To enhance the shape of your eyes, apply a soft pencil eyeliner two-thirds from the outer corner of the eyes for the upper eyelid and fully to the lower eyelids starting from the inner to outer corners. Smudge it slightly to give it a natural look.

Blusher and Lipstick
Many women shy away from using a blusher. But a bit of color on your cheeks can make your complexion look fresh and youthful. Choose a peach or dusky rose colored blusher to accentuate your cheekbones. Don’t know where to apply blusher? Just tilt your head down for a minute and look carefully in the mirror. The area of the cheeks where you see a natural blush is the place where you need to apply the blusher.

As lips begin to lose their collagen, lips become thinner. A good makeup tip to plump up the lips, is to apply a lip balm before applying a lipstick. A good lip balm will not only help combat dryness, but it will also prevent the lipstick from bleeding and settling into the fine lines of the lips. One of the best tips for looking younger is to avoid using dark lipsticks and matte lipsticks. A light or nude colored lipstick with a pearly effect will give you a youthful look. Just a dab of clear gloss applied at the center of the lips will make your lips appear smoother and fuller.

Makeup should always enhance your look and make you look younger. The right makeup products and techniques can help you look graceful and radiant. So, use these tips and tricks to turn back the clock.

To Get Fuller Lips Naturally

There are several home remedies for fuller lips and most of the ingredients can be easily found in your very own kitchen. Choose from any of these below-mentioned home remedies.

➜Exfoliate
Like the rest of your skin, even your lips need an exfoliation. The process of exfoliation helps in giving your lips a plumper effect. To exfoliate, either purchase or make a lip exfoliator or just brush your lips with a toothbrush. Lips are sensitive and this exfoliation procedure may cause some irritation. Follow this up with the application of a mild, non-flavored natural lip balm. This entire procedure will make your lips look moisturized and fuller over time. Moreover, you can also bid goodbye to your lip wrinkles.

➜ Apply Clove Oil
Applying a drop of clove oil on your lips, about twice a week, is a great way of attaining naturally fuller lips. Clove oil is slightly strong and may cause mild irritation. If you experience this, mix a drop of clove oil with your natural lip balm and apply on your lips. You will notice that over time the lips swell up to look rich and fuller.

➜ Apply Cinnamon Leaf Oil
The application of cinnamon leaf oil shows almost immediate results. Cinnamon leaf oil has a stronger effect on the lips than clove oil. It can cause a greater amount of irritation. So, you must definitely mix it with your lip balm and then apply. As is the case with clove oil, apply this mixture only twice a week though you will notice that your lips appear fuller and redder just after the first use. Remember this oil is very spicy and will definitely hurt if used undiluted.

➜ Make your own Natural Lip Plumper
You can prepare your own natural lip plumper and store it and use whenever necessary. For this, mix 6 tablespoons of olive oil, 6 drops of cinnamon leaf oil, and the gel of 1 vitamin E capsule. Ideally, store this mixture in a lip gloss tube in a cool, dark place. Apply it every night and see the difference for yourself.

➜ Cayenne Pepper Oil
Cayenne pepper is extremely spicy though it may be an effective home remedy for fuller lips. To use it for this purpose, mix a small amount of cayenne pepper with water to make a thin, watery paste. Apply this on your lips and leave it on for about 7 to 10 minutes. Then, rinse it off. Do not lick your lips at all after applying the paste. It stings!

A Few Lip Exercises

Fuller lips can be achieved even by doing some simple lip exercises. Before starting off, wash your face and lips thoroughly. Do not apply any of the mixtures mentioned above while doing these exercises. The purpose of these exercises is to stimulate collagen production that helps you achieve plump lips.

➜ Exercise #1
Press your lips in over your teeth as if you are trying to keep from screaming. Now, in this position, smile. Hold this position for 5 seconds and repeat this exercise 10 times.

➜ Exercise #2
Use all your energy and pucker up your lips like you would do when kissing someone. Stay like this for at least 2 – 3 seconds and repeat it 10 times.

➜ Exercise #3
Pout your lips and then press them together upwards towards your nose. Stay like this for about 5 seconds and repeat it about 10 times.

➜ Exercise #4
Press your lips together as you did in the first exercise. Your lips should not wrinkle while doing this exercise. So, pull up the corners of your lips with both your index fingers as if indicating someone to smile. Hold this position for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times. Not only do these exercises give you fuller lips, they also tone the skin around the lips making it firm.

Get Soft Lips

The skin on your lips is thinner than the rest of your body and more prone to dryness, as it does not have sebaceous glands. Chapped lips are a huge turn off in both men and women. Even the best of makeup cannot compensate for dry lips and there is no excuse, considering it’s so easy to make your lips soft. When we speak and smile, the attention is on our lips and being well-groomed is essential to make a good impression.

Ways to Get Soft Lips

Keep the Lips Hydrated
The secret to soft lips is keeping them hydrated and the simplest way to do this is by drinking enough water. It is often seen that chapped lips are common in people who do not drink enough water. So, ensure you have 8-10 glasses of water a day to keep your lips supple. Refrain from licking your lips, as it only temporarily moisturizes your lips and causes it to dry all the more.

Exfoliate the Dry Skin
The same way that you exfoliate your face and body, you also need to exfoliate your lips. There are a number of ways to do this, you can use lip exfoliating products or make your own homemade lip scrub. Mix sugar with olive oil to make a paste and rub it in small circles. Another method is to brush your lips with a soft baby toothbrush. Be careful to exfoliate very gently and avoid exfoliating if you have any cuts or wounds on your lips.

Moisturize Your Lips
Use a good quality lip balm to keep your lips moisturized. They are available in various flavors and give your lips the necessary moisture and shine. Opt for products that have shea butter and vitamin E and apply it using your fingers. If the taste of lip balm makes you want to lick it off, then stick to basic petroleum jelly. Use one that has sunblock and wear it under your lipstick, carry it along with you and reapply it as often as required.
Below are some simple products that work well to moisturize your lips.
Butter
Honey
Olive oil
Milk cream
Baby oil
Glycerin
Coconut oil
All these products from your kitchen are very effective lip softeners. When applying any of these products, use your finger and massage it in circular motions for a couple of minutes for best results.

Eat Right
Just like our skin benefits from a healthy diet, so do our lips. Eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, the minerals and vitamins will make your lips soft and healthy. A balanced diet is perhaps the easiest way of ensuring that you have soft lips, without making any other effort. So, alter your diet and include food that are rich in iron, essential fatty acids and vitamin A, you will be doing your lips a huge favor.

Some More Useful Tips
Before sleeping every night, apply two layers of lip balm, after you massage the first layer, apply another coat on top. This will give you added moisturization, as both the layers will be absorbed through the night.
Do not use products that are very old, check the expiry date and dispose accordingly. Also avoid sharing lip products, as there are chances of passing on bacteria.
An easy trick to get that perfect pout is to gently rub a warm cloth on your lips, this increases the blood flow and makes your lips plump and soft.
If your lips are extremely dry, apply a thick layer of any cream that has an oily consistency and let it absorb completely.
To remove sunburn, apply a mixture of honey and lemon juice and wash after 15 minutes.
Avoid wearing lipstick when you have chapped lips, if at all you have to wear lipstick, make sure you apply a liberal dose of lip balm first.
Use non-matte lipsticks as they contain more moisturizing ingredients in comparison to matte lipsticks.

Egg White Mask: Separate the egg yolk from the white and add a little milk to it. Blend it well, and using a thick clean paint brush, apply it all over the face and neck in upward direction. Let it dry, let it really stretch the face. Rinse with cold water. This is an old beauty treatment used by Japanese women.

Avocado Carrot Cream Mask: Combine one ripe avocado (mashed), one steamed and mashed carrot, half cup fresh full cream, one well beaten egg, and three tablespoons of honey in a bowl. Blend it well until smooth. Spread it all over your cleansed face and neck and leave it for half an hour before washing it off with cold water. It is best to lie down when you have the mask on, else it could drip down.

Plumping Lip Gloss

How Does a Plumping Lip Gloss Work

All the plumping lip glosses have the same working mechanism. They contain ingredients which mildly irritate your lips, so that they become swollen and red. Ingredients may vary greatly according to the lip gloss manufacturing company. However, essentially all of them have the same effect on your lips. Natural ingredients such as peppermint, menthol, camphor, cinnamon and macadamia oil cause the engorgement of the blood vessels in the lips, which give them a fuller, plumper look. Some other ingredients may contain microspheres which attract the water molecules to the surface of the lips, thereby giving them a swollen look.

Tri-peptide of amino acids, also known as palmetoiloligopeptide is yet another ingredient which gives the desired shape to the lips. This particular ingredient is believed to stimulate natural collagen and elastin production. However, one needs to apply it regularly before there are any visible results. A few other lip glosses contain ingredients which reflect light, thereby rendering a super shiny and plumper appearance to your lips. Besides, vital vitamins like vitamin B 12 and vitamin E nourish the lips and leave them healthy and moist. Plumping lip gloss also contains flavoring ingredient, as it is a must that the gloss tastes delicious if you intend to put it on your lips.
